How Do You Get Rid Of Dark Under Eye Circles?

Dark circle under the eyes is probably one of the most common skincare issues. Most people struggle with this. To understand how to get rid of the dark under eye circles we must first know what causes them.

Dark circles appear under the eye for many reasons. The skin under the eye is thin and somewhat transparent. A lack of blood circulation in the area is what your dark circles are (a build up of blood). A lack of sleep, excessive sleep, aging, sun damage, genetics, and allergies can all be the cause of this. First, we must make sure that the simplest solutions have been met.

Are you getting enough sleep? Everyone is different but its safe to say that getting between 7-8 hours of sleep is plenty for most people. Other causes like allergies and genetics are different. If you have allergies it’s probably best to stick to staying away from whatever is reacting to you and take an allergy pill (of course legally, I must mention this is my opinion and I am not a doctor). Genetics is impossible to change so talking to a dermatologist and getting their professional opinion and treatment is best for you.

But what if you have just recently noticed dark circles under your eyes? You could put on concealer, but you don’t always feel like putting heavy makeup. You could put cold spoons under your eyes, but this is a temporary fix and better for puffy eyes, not dark circles. So, what are your options for a long term solution?

  1. Try a Serum!

I personally would use a caffeine serum. This dramatically reduces the look of dark circles under your eyes. Caffeine is absorbed thru the skin and constricts the capillaries filled with blood that cause the darkness, allowing it to leave the area. Thus, visibly lighter circles.

You can also try other serums like a vitamin C or Niacinamide serum. I personally prefer the caffeine serums because I think they work better and, especially with the sensitive skin under the eyes, vitamin C and Niacinamide can be irritating. Not everyone experiences this but I prefer to use them on other parts of my face.

  1. Make Sure You Moisturize

This is simple. Moisturizing your skin will help the health of your skin. Specially a moisturizer with a retinoid (vitamin A). Retinoids have been scientifically proven to help with dark under eye circles. Just make sure that none of the other products you are using in your skincare routine is going to react negatively with the retinoid. If you're looking for a moisturizer with retinoids, try looking at the King Jay Cosmetics Shop.

  1. Most Important…Get SLEEP!

I know you little party boys want to go out to the club or a “social distant” house party, but make sure that you are getting some sleep. This is so much more important than any of the other points I explained before. If you don’t get at least 7 hours of sleep (depending on you age), then none of the above will matter.

Conclusion

If you want to get rid of the dark circles under your eyes these are the best steps you can take. Many people will suggest some gimmicky solution or a billion products but really it’s three simple steps. Caffeine serum, moisturize, sleep.
